Our Story

A Familial Connection to the City

old market.jpg

The Post Alley Café was founded on a deep connection to Seattle and all of its rich history. Especially the historic Post Alley located in Pike Place Market. My grandparents operated Stall 8 in the market selling fresh produce, and then my mother and her siblings took over after them. I always loved that my family was a part of Seattle’s most famous landmark.

When my husband and I started our catering company, Jewel Hospitality, I wanted to always keep the familial connection to my city through the market, and that is where the concept of The Post Alley Café was born.

We wanted to create a place where both Seattle locals and guests to our city could enjoy the best coffee Seattle has to offer, as well as local foods that were founded in the market and city where Marcia’s family built their roots. Our new café, located in the Poly Clinic, Madison, is close to the market, where it all began.

We have proudly partnered with Herkimer coffee to provide premium northwest roasts, and our baristas are trained by Herkimer owners themselves to create espresso drinks that would make Seattle proud. We also carry Northwest favorites like Ellenos Yogurt, breads from Essential Baking Company, bagels from the Seattle Bagel Bakery and Northwest Delights.

All of our salads, wraps, and breakfast sandwiches are hand crafted using fresh and wholesome ingredients. We also buy our ingredients locally and organic whenever possible, focusing on sustainable products such Wild Planet line caught Tuna.

The Post Alley Café has something for everyone. Our comfortable seating and large open windows provide a perfect place to pause or catch up with friends. We even offer take out ordering for pick up in our café.

Stop by today for a drink or something to eat, and please say hello if you see us in the shop!

All the best,

Doug and Marcia Evans
